Hall Education Team – UG Hall IX

The Hall is under the overall in charge of the Residence Master who is assisted by an Assistant Manager and a team of Hall Tutors.

Residence Master - Prof Garvin Percy DIAS

It’s my great pleasure to welcome all of you to UG Hall IX.

Personal contact with students is very important to me. I always emphasize my availability and my willingness to help them sort out any problems they have. I also encourage e-mails, phone calls, and social media messages (e.g., WeChat, WhatsApp, Viber) to keep in touch.

I will organize a variety of activities and communities of shared interests that will help students feel more interconnected and inclined to help others develop their potential and personal skills. Hall Nine themes of improving “Fitness” (Physical, Social, Intellectual, Emotional, Financial, Occupational, Environmental and Spiritual) and the Dine and Share (DAS) experience will continue to guide our Hall direction. The theme of Fitness would focus on helping students achieve greater fitness in multiple ways to become more effective in developing various aspects in their lives.

On the theme of social fitness, we seek out opportunities to leverage and build upon diversity of students backgrounds and culture to increase shared cultural awareness, and to strengthen both spiritual and social fitness, as well as to provide many students with opportunities to shine and lead in teaching about social and cultural issues.

Great teachers have made a difference in my life. I am determined to make a difference in my students’ lives the same way.
