FAQ:

  1. I am a non-local student and I am NOT in Hong Kong now. How can I do?
If you decided NOT to return to HKUST anymore.  You can authorize your friend to help you check out your room by providing an authorization letter with your name and your SID as well as your friend’s name and SID with your copy of your student card.  Then, your friend goes to the service counter of your hall to complete check-out procedure on behalf of you.
  2. May I apply withdrawal from residence and apply for student halls again?
No, your hall offer becomes void and null upon withdrawal from residence.  You are NOT allowed to apply for student accommodation in 2019/20 again.

Important Notes:

  1. SHRLO needs time to verify and update the residents’ record in the system, so the whole processing time is expected to be longer than normal.  We expect the whole processing time is around 10 working days upon completion of check-out/ receipt of withdrawal request.
  2. Upon receipt of “Withdrawn from Residence” request, the hall offer of the residential year of 2019/20 becomes void and null.  Residents would NOT be considered to apply for student hall in 2019/20 again.
  3. The above-mentioned is the one-off policy. No refund request would be considered after 17 February 2020.  Hall charges paid is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
